Emma Painter Interiors

Find your happy space

At Emma Painter Interiors we craft considered interiors that express the story of the people living in them. Interiors that are grounded in the history of the buildings that wrap them and in touch with their locality. Interiors that are beautifully designed, fit for purpose, hot on the detail, future-proof, and enlivened with a sense of fun. Every single space is designed with a purpose – the key to properly ‘living’ in a home as opposed to ‘inhabiting’ a house. So let us do the designing so that you can get on with the living

About EMMA

Emma is a firm advocate of the essential balance between beauty and functionality for every single detail of an interior.

Emma utilises her design DNA and honed creative vision to the max to fashion homes that are truly a reflection of the people living in them, providing beautiful and practical design solutions to suit each client’s lifestyle and build budget.

Her intuitive design approach ensures each completed interior space is a perfect fit for the lives her clients live now but also with an eye to the future; creating future-proof, expectation-exceeding spaces in which they can live their best lives, comfortably surrounded by the things they love.

“I love contemporary clean lines, favour mid-century modern style (the Mad Men set is my happy place) and am in love with the Scandinavian aesthetic of making something the best it can be without any unnecessary add-ons – the perfect balance of functionality and good design”

Slide Emma managed to capture my mood and requirements without visiting the house and create results that were very much spot on! She listened to suggestions, agreed and introduced changes or calmly pointed out why some of my ideas would not work. Emma managed to incorporate some of my old possessions and furniture in the new design, which made the solution very practical. Emma was a pleasure to work with and I am very pleased with the results. Victoria Home office in Fulham Slide Emma helped steer me through a major house renovation where the number of decisions was, at times, a little overwhelming. She absolutely got the look I was trying to create. She was incredibly patient and answered a multitude of questions. Her prompt replies were pragmatic, always timely and were considerate to the limited budget I had. Emma provided me with confidence on how best to proceed or which ideas worked best. I very much valued her opinion and wouldn't hesitate to use her again in the future. Fiona House renovation in the Wittering Slide We have worked with Emma on our Bed and breakfast rooms at The Star and Garter. Emma’s attention to detail is fantastic from the first mood boards, to being on site with start of work, to install of specific projects. Would highly recommend. Giles Guest rooms re-design for a Hampshire countryside Inn Slide We engaged Emma to help us restyle our sitting -room following a complete renovation of our original 1920's parquet flooring. The main nub of our theme was seaside with a nod to art-deco., but it was also essential to keep the cosy feel we wanted. Emma listened at length to what we wanted and put forward ideas that we certainly wouldn't have thought of on our own. The result is fantastic, and we would recommend Emma to anyone who needs assistance in achieving their design dreams. I would also add that that the workmanship for the decorations, curtain and blind making was first class. Angus and Roz Seaside sitting room at Selsey Bill Slide Emma's beautiful, unique designs, in oak, cherry and painted wood, and her bold scheme, brought personality and mid-century warmth to the client's home. Shane Waterside Home - Sussex Slide As soon as I read Emma Painter's mission statement, I made my SOS call. I was really impressed by the way she interpreted my passion for sailing and love of mid-century modern design. Nothing was too ever too much trouble. In the midst of everything, I decided to buy a Vizsla puppy, but Emma took that curve ball in her stride and deftly tweaked the design to accommodate Ruby's arrival. I couldn't be more delighted with the finished house - it is unrecognisable from the property I bought. It's finally somewhere I feel very proud to call home. Steve Waterside bachelor's home in Emsworth Slide I was struggling to make decisions about the interior layout and decoration of a new extension to our home. Emma's advice and ability to carefully guide my husband and I through the steps necessary to achieve our desired space was excellent. I would strongly recommend Emma and really appreciated her professional and friendly approach. Julie Artist's open plan living in Emsworth Slide I reached out to Emma when I was struggling with a colour scheme for a loft conversion and ensuite in my 1960s bungalow, which was the start of a whole house renovation. Emma listened carefully and made sense of the jumbled ideas I had in my mind and came up with a beautiful scheme that far exceeded my expectations yet fitted my budget. Beverley Master suite loft conversion in Hunston Slide I am very happy with my new cloakroom...meticulously finished in all aspects.
A very difficult small cloakroom. Emma provided some wonderful ideas and solutions that we had not thought about! Budgets and deadlines were met - the contract administration was very efficient, with so many tradesmen to co-ordinate for such a small space.

Slide Emma has a fantastic eye for colour, design & interiors. She is creative, fun and great to work with. We had a whole house to do, and her choice of fabrics and details were fantastic, a pleasure to work with. Amanda Family home renovation in Chichester Slide After almost 40 years of ownership and many years of DIY we were faced with the rather daunting realisation that professional painting and restoring as necessary the whole outside of a grade II* listed Queen Anne house and outbuildings was necessary. The most pressing item was a 1950s studio that had fallen on hard times, (latterly had been used as a furniture repair workshop and needed a new flat roof covering and revisions to wiring and plumbing), so as to get it ready in time, in the first instance, for multipurpose use in our Spring town festival. Emma supported us throughout and produced a sympathetic colour scheme for the whole, supplemented in the studio - at comparatively modest cost - by a wonderfully imaginative and integrated array of curtains and blinds - including a winning 50s style lampshade. It was all, but especially the studio, enormously appreciated and complimented by visitors and set the scene for some very happy events and remains for us all a source of continuing enjoyment. Many thanks. Richard The Gluck Studio
